Wireless Network Connection does not auto connect

Posted: 08-29-2003, 06:47 PM
I have two pc running window xp home. Both have equal SP
and fixes.

PC one auto connect to Linksys 54G wireless route and then
to internet automaticly.

PC two. I must refresh connect multiple time before I can
connect to network. Once it is connected I can stay
logged in with no problem until I log out the PC.

I did set the network wizard on both computer a hub not
residental gateway is this my problem?

Both computers have fix 815485. Any help you can give me
would be helpful.

Thanks Patty

Set up your network manually. You don't need the network wizard it is only
good for ICS. Your router is the gateway(DHCP Server) Set the wireless nics
to obtain an IP address automatically then Advanced (wins)netbios over
tcp/ip. In the wireless network tab under the wireless card properties under
authentication uncheck enable IEEE 802.1x authentication ,until you can get
everything working don't install a software firewall or the ICF or WEP. If
you have enabled ICS and have a host and client setup undo that. Rightclick
your wireless connection and view available wireless networks and go from
there to check things. Go to the router and make sure it can see both
computers. You will get more familiar with the configurations this way. Make
sure the default Gateway is the router. Go to cmd and ipconfig /all and you
will see what is going on. With the fix 815485 you might not be able to use
WEP if your router and nic drivers aren't upgraded for WPA. Not all of them
are.
