Wireless Problem Solved

Posted: 06-12-2006, 08:01 AM
i have a WMP54G linksys adapter that connects to a wireless network. Windows
Vista saw my adapter to be a broadcom 802.11g adapter. For the longest time
i could not figure out why it wasnt seening my network at all. My network
uses WEP and i read on here some people have been having a issue with that.
After much fustration and determination i went through these steps:
1. Open network Center
2. Click setup a connection or network
3. Select manually connect to a wireless network
4. Typed in the required information and clicked all the check boxes

It instantly found my network and connected without issues. I am leaving
this comment in helps of others and currently using the wireless connection
in vista.

With Windows Vista in general i have found it runs smoothly on my machine
and have only seen minor bugs such as disappearing quick lanch items and
other taskbar items such as clock until i do a mouseover. One major tip is
dont activate windows in XP when you are first installing Vista because once
you are in Vista and you try to activate windows it will say your product key
is already in use. I had to get a new product key and had no furthur
problems. Here are my system Specs which met Windows Vista Ultimate
requirements in case some of you are having peformance problems.

Windows Vista Ultimate Beta 2
Windows XP Professional
SATA 200GB HD 7200RPM
ATI Radeon X1600 Pro 512MB (using XP drivers, Vista drivers did not work)
Broadcom 802.11g Wireless Adapter
Sound Blaster Live! 24Bit
ASUS P4P-800E deluxe Motherboard
Intel P4 3.0Ghz Extreme Edition(overclocked at 3.6Ghz)
PC3200 DDR400 2GB Dual Channel Cosair Memory

If you need help setting up any of the items i have listed or talked about
reply and i will do my best to help.
