WLMDB is messing up IE7 feeds

Posted: 06-29-2006, 08:48 PM
I have experienced lots off issues with WLMDB and noticed that even after
uninstalling and removing my store folder, lots of stuff is remembered/left
behind.

Today after installing the updated IE7 Beta 3, I noticed that some of my
feeds were not showing up anywhere on the feed list in IE7 or WLMDB, and I
believe that this is most likely related to WLMDB. When I try to subscribe
to them again they are either shown as they would normally in IE7 or when the
subscribe button is available in IE7 or I try adding a URL for these feeds in
WLMDB I am told that they already exist.

The reason I believe that this issue may be related to Windows Live Mail
Desktop Beta is because I have found that I am temporarily able to get them
back by following all of these steps. 1) I delete all feeds from IE7B3 and
WLMDB. After I do this I reinstall WLMDB and those feeds that are were not
displayed anywhere in WLMDB or IE7B3, show up in WLMDB, and I delete them.
The last time, because the issue came back, I did not reinstall WLMDB. When
I imported my feeds from a backup export I made prior to WLMDB install all my
feeds were back, including the ones that were missing previously. I followed
these steps a few times few times to get my missing feeds back because after
messing around in WLMDB removing feeds, etc., with and without the option
checked to mirror the action in IE7, the feeds dissappeared again in IE7.
Well, the last time I changed nothing else on IE7, have not attempted to
reinstall WLMDB, so I thought that everything was fixed. Just now after
coming back to my computer after 30 minutes I noticed that these three feeds,
that had come back just as they had every other time I repeated the steps,
had disappeared out of the blue. I have tried un/reinstalling IE7B3 but
nothing helps.

I found a folder in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft called feeds and deleted it after
uninstalling IE7, and things appear to be running smoothly for now in IE7. I
noticed that before reinstalling IE7 I found this folder much more easily,
afterwards I had to change folder options and uncheck hide protected
operating system files to find this folder. I don't know if WLMDB or IE7
made the settings on this folder previously but I think it would be better
that it not be a hidden system folder if Microsoft may be directing people
toward this in the future because I couldn't find the folder at first even by
searching for it with the option checked to search system files until I
unchecked the folder options box mentioned above.
