wmp crashing while ripping cd's

so i've got about 12,000 files ripped to date and i'm
running on a new pc. i've probably ripped 200 discs on
this machine and haven't installed any new system
software.

today, wmp started crashing while ripping. again, and
again and again. about twice per disc. i tried rebooting,
same deal. everytime i get the same problem:

anyone else seen this kind of thing? i've sent the error
logs back to msft, but i was wondering if anyone else had
found this same problem?
