WMP locksup XP and makes a high pitch tone. what gives?

When I use WMP, sometimes my sysem will lockup and I will
get a high pitch tone out of my speakers. I have an
Audigity sound card. The only way I can stop it is to
reset my system. Can anyone give me a good place to start
looking to solve this problem?
