Word 2004 Reverse Print pref checked, but fails to print that way

Posted: 05-25-2004, 12:59 AM
Before I replaced Office X with Office 2004, I had "Reverse Print" checked
in the Word Print preferences. That preference is still checked in Word
2004. The printer (Epson Stylus C84) is the same. And I'm still operating
in OS 10.3.3.

But instead of the last page printing first, as it did with Word X 10.1.5,
in Word 2004, the last page prints last. I tried un-checking and
re-checking the preference box but that did not help.

Your counsel, please?

I feel as though I've heard something about it being possible to set Reverse
Print both in Word *and* in the printer settings, and then the two cancel
each other out. See if turning the Word one off works, or explore the File
| Page Setup and File | Print... dialogs for another setting.

Although I don't see how upgrading from Word X to Word 2004 could change
that...maybe it communicates differently with the printer...

Or drag your prefs file
(~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/com.microsoft.Word.prefs.plist ) to the
desktop and test the print order with a freshly created prefs file, just in
case it's corrupted.

Thanks very much, Dayo! After I UNchecked "Reverse Print" in the Word 2004
preferences, Word printed in reverse. That solves my problem, but if you
wish me to experiment, I'd be willing to do so. I could find no hints in
printer settings, page setup or file/print.

Hi Norman:

I think Dayo is on the right track. Word does not "store" printing
preferences, as far as I know, it passes them on to the printer driver which
stores them if you choose to save custom settings.

When you installed Word 2004, it would not replace the printer driver, so if
you had settings stored, they would indeed stay there.

I think that's how it works... I couldn't get Word X to print at all on my
normal printer, so I never had a chance to customise anything :-) Word 2004
prints just fine, thank you :-)

Cheers
