Word X tries to open docs in OS 9, how do you get around that?

'ello all,

I tried looking around on Google and couldn't find anything on this
particular issue, so I thought I'd ask here. :) I've got Office 2001 on
OS 9.2.2 and Office X on OS 10.2. My problem is that ever since I
installed Office X, whenever I try to open a .doc file in OS 9, rather
than opening it with the Office 2001 version of Word, it tries to open
the .doc with Word for Office X. It gives you an error of "Word X is an
OSX only application" or something like that.

I can get around it by opening Word 2001, then dropping the files on it,
or just opening from the app itself...but that's kind of annoying as
Word should realize what it needs to be doing. I've tried using File
Exchange in the OS 9 control panel to get it to re-associate .doc files
with the 2001 version of Word, but it only offers Word X...and when you
manually choose Word 2001, it doesn't change this. :(

If anyone has any suggestions, they would be most appreciated. :)

Ah, my apologies on that. I must have been using some odd search terms that
didn't trigger anything. I appreciate the help. :)
