Workaround for Discontinued Support for IP over 1394

Posted: 08-25-2006, 08:04 PM
Just installed Vista b2 on a new laptop and wanted to xfer all of my Music
and Videos (around 20Gb total). Via Wireless link was taking hours. Then I
found IP over 1394 support discontinued. <sigh>

Are there any known 3rd party network drivers to make up the gap for loss of
IP support? OR, is there an easier way to hook up two computers?

Discontinued Support for IP over 1394
Updated: December 8, 2004

In future versions of the Windows operating systems, Microsoft plans to
discontinue support for IP over 1394 (that is, TCP/IP over IEEE 1394).
Currently, this capability is supported in Microsoft Windows Server 2003,
Windows XP, and Windows Me. Microsoft has not identified any customer
dependency on this capability. If you are an IHV or OEM who has a business
dependency on this capability, please provide feedback to netdd@microsoft.com.
