Working remotely with two PCs without real IPs

Posted: 08-05-2008, 05:27 PM
Hello

I have two PCs that don't have real IPs.

What software you suggest I use to have these two PCs connect to each other
via something like remote desktop?

Thanks,
lallous

Please define "real IPs".

Routers can be configured to forward certain ports to certain machines
behind them and thus - allowing Remote Desktop, etc.

However - without knowing more about your situation - there is little I can
suggest.

Hi,

Say Cable connection (PPoE), or say from behind a NAT.

p.s: The users cannot configure routers or ask to have it configured.
Is there is no service where the two PCs connect to a reachable PC (provided
by that service) and that service routes the connection between the two PCs?

In addition to Shenan's comments be very careful if these PCs are in a work
environment. Connecting them to untrusted networks may violate company
policies. Check with the work network administrators for help if this is a
legitimate work related requirement.

These systems do have real IP's, they just don't have public ones.

I have to agree with another poster, you must look at the circumstances.
If these are work systems, and you don't want to commit a carrer-ending
move, you must check that you do not violate any company policies.

And if it is a work system, there may be firewalls that you cannot adjust
and which prevent this from working.

You need to have more information to do this, or safely.

Hello,

Sorry I meant "public" IP rather than real IP.
And No, I am not violating any company rules or something.

GotoMyPC is what I am looking for.

Thanks,
lallous
