wwriting cd's

I am trying to write a directory which contains some
jpeg's and a program called ezveiwer to a cd.
Windows XP appears to complete the writing of the files
to the CD, it asks if I want to make another CD. I answer
no and the application closes.
Using the explorer window I try to open the CD and it is
empty!!!!!
The system seems to know a CD is isntalled but yet no
files show up.
I checked the permissions and they are markled as read
only. Should be OK.
I was able to repeat this twice with 2 differnet CD's.

Help!!!
