XP-98 Networking problem

Posted: 06-30-2003, 02:27 PM
I have three computers, two working on W98 and a new one
working on XP. I am using thin ethernet connections with
BNC plugs and terminators. Networking between the W98
computers is no problem. To the XP computer is. I have
manually configured the sub-net mask adresses to be the
same, all computers are in the same workgroup, the
computer names are all different. All three computers are
set to use Client for MS Networks, TCP/IP Protocol and
File and Printer sharing for MS Networks. At least one
facility in each computer is set for sharing.
I cannot ping from or to the XP computer.
Any help would be most gratefully received.
Thanks.

It might be the XP firewall or any other personal firewall you might have
installed. Disable to check if it is the problem. If disabling the firewall
solves the problem, you need to manually add the IP address in your network
to Trusted Zone in firewall application.
