XP Account Problem

Posted: 07-10-2003, 10:49 AM
I've really screwed up this time. I don't know exactly
how it happened or why. Anyways, restarted my computer
like I do once a day at least since I have it on all the
time, and right after the welcome screen came up, I got a
screen that said please choose an account from the list,
the only problem was, there were no names in the list! I
finally figured out how to get past it (CRTL-ALT-DELETE)
and this brought up a different logon option, and I hit
cancel, and was able to get into windows. Now so I
wouldn't go through that hassle again, I made a new
account so it could show up in the list. But the big
problem is this. I have the startup all sorted out now,
but now I can't get rid of the account I created! I use
to have it set to where it would just boot up through
Administrator (prior to the problem I'm having now) since
I'm the only user for this computer. But now the only way
I can logon through the Administrator account is through
safe mode! What gives? I've tried getting rid of the
other account I created, so I could logon normally like
before. By doing that I logged in through Administrator
through safe mode, chose system in control panel,
Advanced, and deleted the user/ account I created. But
that doesn't work! after I delete it and restart, it
shows up in the account list after the welcome screen!
Why can't I get rid of this account and just logon
normally through the administrator as I've done many
times before? If someone just so happens to know my
problem and can help, I'd much rather have the help
emailed to XtraNtnse@aol.com but if you can't then just
reply here.

The hidden administrator account is not designed to be used as your daily
account. It is a backup account to use in case something happens to your
user account. You should setup a user account and use that instead of the
hidden administor account, which it looks like you already did so just leave
it that way and your good. To log into the user account automatically:
If you use a password on your user account then download and install tweakui
for xp and use its auto-logon feature.

Or, if you don't use a password:

Start, run, type in: control userpasswords2, hit enter.

Uncheck: users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.
