XP automatically restarts

I have seen two other posts on here with this same
complaint. I have done a recent build of a new PC with XP
home. We'll just say all new brand name equipment.
Computer reboots somewhat randomly( more often if some usb
devices are being used), but other times for no apparent
reason. The reboot is as if you pressed the reset button
on the front of the pc. Windows error report says the
problem was caused by a device driver (none specific).I
have updated all peripheral drivers and my mainboard
chipset drivers from intel. Soyo(motherboard) had no
clue... they said to try intel and microsoft??

I got the same problem also. It seems that when you use the default
Windows XP Error (Reporting) settings, that the PC will restart in case
of a serious error.
You can turn this off in the "My Computer Properties". I don't know what
tab you have to use, I use W2K at my work.
You can also switch of those anoying "send error report" messages.

Note: this is not the solution to the problem!!! You still have a
hardware problem, or a software problem.
Maybe you should deactivate some hardware to find out who's the creator
of all those problems. Maybe there is a Windows update or software
driver update.

Good luck!
Patrick

I've had this problem with my XP Pro version. I found
that my internet security software was the culprit. I
disabled it and I had no more problems. Thus, I just
uninstalled it altogether. I'm still looking for a more
compatible internet security software, though.
