XP "Blue Screen" with error message

Please forgive the cross-post - I truly don't know where to begin looking
for this answer.

Where can I go to find out what an error message really means? Can someone
here help, or is there something like a dictionary on MS's site?

You could try a google search of the exact error or parts of it.

Did you "Send" the error report back to Microsoft ?
I you do, you'll get troubleshooting steps for the particular problem on
your machine.

Um, let's clarify that a bit.

You get a response *if* it is a known issue with a resolution, and then only
*if* you go through the help and support link shown in event viewer
(start/run eventvwr.msc). Otherwise, by sending the error report, you are
simply helping accumulate data to continue the effort to resolve issues.
