Greetings --
That would be a question to ask the manufacturer of your PC. All
retail CDs are bootable, and I believe all generic OEM CDs are, as
well, but I can't speak for the hundreds of different branded,
customized OEM CDs.

having both at once. -- RAH

XP CD

looked in KB Article 812340 regarding a rundll32.exe error
that has occurred; I can't access any icons in the Control
Panel. Unfortunately, the first step says "Put the Windows
XP CD ROM disk in the CD ROM drive." Simple enough, but
Sony didn't give me a CD with the Vaio.
Any options or suggestions?
Thanks

Hi
Go back to Sony - they should have provided you with at least a 'recovery' disk.

Thanks, Will
I appreciate the help. I've got to get creative now...Sony
only gave instruction that I should prepare the recovery
disk myself...since we're just setting this machine up, I
had't created the disk yet.
My good luck.

Have you set your CMOS to boot from the CD? If not it sure as heck
won't.
