XP does not remember my settings

Default XP does not remember my settings

I am using XP Pro. I am the administrator and there is no
other user account on this machine.

I have configured the machine for certain preferences,
such as Quick Launch toolbar and Desktop toolbar on my
task bar. But sometimes, when I boot the machine and log
in, the Quick Launch toolbar vanishes. I have to again
check the "Show Quick Launch" checkbox in "Taskbar
Preferences".

Another irritating thing that is happening is the Windows
Explorer opens automatically on startup, whereas I have
not put it in the startup group.

Can anyone help me find out why this is happening?

Thanks

Sumit

See http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm, Line 30, left column for
the saving settings issue. For the Explorer window, the name of the folder
would help.

I am having both of the same problems myself.

I'll try the regedit fix for the first. Hopefully this
fixes both.

The Windows Explorer window that always pops-up for me is
C:/windows/system32

If you have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 sound card, see
www.kellys-korner.com/xp_tweaks.htm, Line 260, System32 Folder Opens Upon
Boot

Otherwise, see:
