XP Embedded licenses

Hi KM,

You have confirmed what I was thinking about.
But could you say me if during the image creation I must present both PID
and stickers informations ?

Patrick,

Not sure what you mean by the "stickers information's" ?
All you need is the PID which should be written on the stickers you receive
from Microsoft or from your XPe license distributor.

Patrick,

Just realized that you might have been playing with the PID of the product.
It is not the right ID number you should use in TD.
You should be using PID numbers for your *runtime licenses*.

I will explain to you what I am meaning with sticker ...

When I bought XP Embedded licences I received some pieces of paper of
approximativaly 1x2,5 centimeters.
On each piece of paper there is two numbers one is as xxxxx-xxx-xxx-xxx and
another is as Xnnn-nnnnn or something like that. I'm thinking tht it is that
yo ar calling the COA.

My distributor gave me another think that it is called Product Key or PID.

I bought too the target designer with SP2 included inside. Wich one is saled
with another PID.

So my question is this one :
Does I have to use both PID and something on the COA to build a good image ?

Both my distributor and Microsoft Documentation are not easy to understand...
One is saying that PID is good and the other seems not knowing the way it is
working ...

Today, I start to be desperate to find a good answer....

I am achieving the construction of a tracking and recording system for
medical that will be saled during the next years with our machines.

Could you help me please.

The Product Key you one use once when you're installing the XPe ToolKit (TD and database).
(yes, you can call he Product Key as PID with some sense. But please don't do that as there is particular terminology for the
product related stuff that you should use so that other people could understand you correctly)

PID is the runtime license ID that you can read of COA stickers and that should be in format I mentioned earlier that is
xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx. Only such number would work for you.

None of the numbers you mentioned is the runtime PID since the numbers are not in proper format.

If I were you I'd call the distributor and clarify what the heck licences and PID numbers you have purchases through them.

I want to be sure about I'm thinking now.

1. The Product Key is which I used when I installed the toolkit XP Embedded.

2. The PID is which I have to use when I am buiding the image. In this
manner, I can build the final image of XP Embedded.

3 The informations written on the small label (xxxxx-xxx-xxx-xxx and
Xnn-nnnnn) are not used to build the image. They are just present to validate
the license. I must stick them on the hard disk for example.

That sounds right.

Although the stickers you mentioned in item#3 looks like COA stickers but I never saw COA stickers with wrong PID numbers so I
cannot comment on what numbers you see on the small labels. Please check it out with your XPe distributor.

Those are the new COA stickers that do not have a PID printed on them. You
should have recieved a white card with a yellow sticker on it that has a 25
digit Product Key for WinXP Embedded Runtime. That is the number you must
enter in Target Designer. If you didn't recieve one with your licenses you
should contact your distributor for assistance.
