XP Fails to restart after SP1 Install

Did you get a message saying that sp1 had succesfully completed and the
system must be restarted ?
Are you installing it through windows update, or have you downloaded as an
executable file ?

Have you tried going into safe mode ?

Is this a legit copy of windows xp with a good product key, there were some
traps put into sp1 to pick up some of the pirated keys. Sorry its an obvious
question that I have to ask.

You could try adding the /SOS switch to the boot line in boot.ini after
/fastdetect, this will give a much more verbose boot screen, it might give
you a betterr chance of figuring out exactly where its hanging.

Before you try again check for all unsigned drivers, particularly video
drivers as these will not have been passed against sp1. These could be
causing the problem.
