XP firewall questions

I admin a medium sized LAN with NT Domain. Clients are generally win2k and
XP pro. I have run into problems related to the Firewall feature of XP; I
can't connect with VNC or push NAV updates. I have to go to each system and
manually shut down the firewall.
Is there a way to remotely shutdown this service? I have looked everywhere
and came up with nothing.

Er... think about why that might not be such a good idea.

If possible, find a way to open holes in the firewall to allow the
specific traffic you want through, i.e. your updates etc. This may
not be as easy as it should be.
