XP gurus : help! : Missing Icons in Control Panel Original Categories

Hello,

Thank you for helping me, I appreciate. If I click on :

"Start, Control Panel, Performance & Maintenance"

then I have 2 missing icons (out of 4) at the bottom of my screen
("System" & "Power Options").

I can find again these 2 missing icons if I click on :

"Up" (green arrow below "favorites") + "Other control panel options"
(in the "See also" box on the left).

Another example : If I click on :

"Start, Control Panel, Appearance & themes"

then I only have 2 icons out of 3 ("Display" icon is missing).
Again, I can find it again if I click on :

"Up" (green arrow below "favorites") + "Other control panel options"
(in the "See also" box on the left).

Question :

How can I put these icons back to their original category ??
BTW, I don't want to use the "Classic" view....

what version of xp do you have?

performance & maintenance is in Help & Support Center
not control panel.........

The latest one :

XP Pro 5.1.2600 SP1 build 2600 + all the online updates
(using "windows update") US version.

Wrong. It is ALSO in my Control Panel. I have checked other
XP computers and they also have "performance & maintenance"
in the control Panel. (Category View)

I've just tried unsuccesfully.

I should have said that my icons are not really "missing" as they have
simply moved to "Other control panel options".

I just want them back to their original category....

To get the originals back and working again, see the other response in this
thread.

However, I'm thinking that your computer manufacturer and/or the software
for your display adapter have added new control panel icons that are
separate and to be used in place of the XP default control panel items.

Reason: When I click on "See Also: Other Control Panel Options" the only
things listed on my screen are third party icons that were added by other
software installations. If this is the case, I don't know of any way to move
those icons into the default screens of the XP style control panel. Sorry.
