XP and IE hanging

Posted: 10-28-2003, 07:55 PM
I have a client with windows XP along with all patches
and updates.

This pc consistently hangs and freezes. I've reinstalled
XP, but that does not solve the problem. Below is the
print out from the event log. I would appreciate any
sugestions.

Lou,

I submitted this message to Microsoft online tech
support, below is what they sent me, I hope it helps.

Thank you for choosing Online Support for your Microsoft
Technical Support offering. My name is Chris, and I will
be working with you on this service request.

Based on your case log, I understand that the system
hangs and freezes with no reason. If I have
misunderstood, please feel free to let me know.

According to my experience, please perform a clean boot
to check if it was caused by software conflict.

1. Click Start, click Run, type "msconfig" (without the
quotation marks) in the Open box, and then click OK.

2. On the Startup tab, click "disable all", and then
click services tab, first check the opinion "hide all
Microsoft services", and then click "disable all".

3. Click OK, and then click Restart to restart your
computer.

4. After Windows starts, determine whether the symptoms
are still present.

Following are the steps to return from a Clean Boot State

Steps to Return from a Clean Boot State
-------------------------------------
1. Click Start, click Run, type "msconfig" (without the
quotation marks) in the Open box, and then click OK.

2. On the General tab, click "Normal Startup - load all
device drivers and services".

3. Click OK. Click Restart when you are prompted to
restart your computer.

Please try the suggestions above on your side and provide
me with the results at your earliest convenience. If
anything in my e-mail is unclear or you need further
help, don't hesitate to let me know. It is my pleasure to
be of assistance.

Best Regards,
----------------------------------------------------------
