I want you to get up off your butt and take a walk to the nearest mirror.
Take a good hard look at what you see in there. Now come back here and tell
the group who or what is crap (hint - it isn't Microsoft and it isn't XP).

Peter - I fixed mine by changing from a regular IEEE
cable to a USB cable. Hook everything up, turn the
printer on, and reboot. XP automatically recognized the
printer and its working great now.
