| On a thinkpad laptop with two adapters: - a wireless connected to the public internet trough a Access Point (AP) router and cable modem - a builtin ethernet NIC to which an IP phone is connected with a crossover cable. I wish to bridge the two adapters so that the IP phone is issued an internal LAN IP (192.168.xxx.xx) by the DHCP server on the router and ends up "on-line" connected to the internet. Using "netsh" command I checked that the wireless adapter (Orinoco PCMCIA) is indeed in promiscuous mode and even usued the "forcecompatmode=enable" command just in case. The soft XP bridge failed to aquire an IP from the router 'cause as soon as XP built the bridge, the wireless adapter link to the router (nd its DHCP server) is lost. What is wrong? I read an MS article that it is supposed to work: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e.../02april22.asp Could it be that the Orinoco wireless adapter does not support promiscuous mode even though it reports that it does and is enabled? Where could I find if it does or does not? -- Alain Cailet | Guest
