XP not recognizing CDROM devices

Posted: 12-22-2003, 02:14 AM
Having a problem.

In a regular boot, my two CDROM devices disappear. They
are not listed as installed devices, and so there are no
drive letters or icons for them.

But in SAFE MODE, my two CDROM devices are recognized fine.

A clue: In SAFE MODE w/networking, they also disappear.
Only in regular SAFE MODE, are they there.

I've tried removing them as devices, when in SAFE MODE,
and then letting the regular boot detect them, but that
doesn't work.
