xp printer driver install error

Posted: 12-02-2007, 12:37 AM
I have a home network with three computers, two with Windows XP and one with
Windows Vista Home Premium to which is attached a Konica Minolta magicolor
2400w printer. The printer works fine from the host computer but I can't
print anything from the two xp machines.

Printer sharing is enabled and I can "see" the printer from the XP computers.

I think the problem lies with the XP driver. When I try to install the XP
driver on the Vista host through pinter properties\sharing\additional
drivers, I get the following error message: "Unable to install Konica Minolta
magicolor 2400w, Itanium, type-3 user mode driver. Operation could be
completed (error 0x00000007e)."

Any help would be appreciated.

Try to install the printer local port and the re-capture it. This link may
help.

Vista Print IssuesSolved: Vista print Error 0x00000866 Resolution: 1. Add a
Local Printer and then create a new port pointing to the shared printer. ...

Also, you must deselect "bidirectional support" for the 2400w.

Open the control panel. Open printers and faxes folder. Right click on
the 2400w. Select "properties." select the "ports" tab. On the bottem
of the Dialog box there is a check box labeled "Enable bidirectional
support." Deselect that option.

to.

Sorry.
