xp pro and dvd/cdrw combo

Posted: 06-30-2003, 10:35 PM
I recently received a new Dell with a GCC-4480B RW/DVD
combo drive. The drive designation is D and it is
recognized as a CD-RW drive after I right-click the drive
and enable recording in the record tab. The problem
arises when I try to "write these files to the cd".
Anytime that a disk is inserted into the drive, the drive
letter switches from cd-rw to cd-rom, and there is no
option to write to the cd-rw. I have checked the
registry and the drive is designated as "2" for cd-rw.
Does anyone have a solution to this.
Thanks in advance,

Call Dell they use support as a selling point and they should be able to be
more accurate.
