XP Pro Crash N Burn - File Recovery from the Ashes

Posted: 07-03-2003, 06:43 PM
XP professional crashed on me with all critical update
from Microsoft installed. It would not boot in any other
mode but the command to a dos prompt. When booting
safemode - or any attempted mode where the operating
system would come up the computer rebooted - a warm boot
when loading the files. Either that of it froze up.
Either way could not access the files at all.
So Re-installed Xp pro on another partition of same
drive. Updates all critical fixes available. It is
working and bootable. Problem is I cannot access a few
folders that were encrypted for security purposes on the
previous instalation of the operating system. Also cannot
access the documents saved under the previous systems
setup prior to crash. As stated above all data is intact
and was not removed. I re-installed xp pro in a
completely new directory in order to preserve the old
copy. Any Ideas for recovery of data from previous
install would be greatly helpfull.
There has to be a way to do this . I have all the
previous login names and passwords used.

Hi!
I have the same F...... problem! I also have all user
names and passwords. The thing that is stupid is that
there were no password on admin. If you find a way,
please let me know!
Thanks!
