XP Pro will not start if USB mouse is plugged in.

The PC is fine in every regard except that it will not
transition to the OS after the POST and SATA RAID mount if
a USB mouse is plugged in.

It works fine with a PS2 mouse.

It works with a USB mouse if you plug it in after the OS
is up and running.

It works fine w/ USB or PS2 keyboard.

It is a 3.0 gHz P4 HT on a DFI PS35-BL motherboard.

The OS, drivers and BIOS are all current. None of the
devices are yellow in system info.

This is a new installation.

Any advice is gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Russ, go into the Bios>Power Settings. Disable the Mouse from Wake Up
Devices. See what happens.

Thanks Rich. No joy. My BIOS does not have such a
setting.

What gets me is that the USB mouse works if you plug it in
after the PC is up and running.

I tried removing all the USB drivers but to no avail.
after they re-install I get the same problem.
