XP ver 5.1.2600 - can't use web-based email

Posted: 07-03-2003, 04:40 AM
I am using XP 5.1.2600 on both my desktop and laptop,
original copies from the manufacturers (Sony and
Compaq). It is often the case that I can't retrieve
email in yahoo and hotmail. My sister's yahoo account is
not affected though, she can still check hers as usual
even when I just failed to check mine. I can login both
accounts but it just goes idle in Hotmail and 'cannot
find server' on yahoo if I click the
inbox/sent/draft/bulk folder links. It is all the same
no matter if I am using IE, Netscape or MSN explorer.

There is no problem when I use other comptuers running on
win 98/2000/xp pro. Why is this the case? Can anyone
help? Thx.

A few quick questions. Are you and your sister using the
same logins in Windows or even the same computer? You
state that there are 2 computers, but do not say where the
problem is occurring. Secondly, what software is running
on the machine with the problems? Any antivirus,
firewall, or popup killers? Once we have more info we can
make suggestionsm but there is not enough here to even
guess with.
