XP won't stay connected to Samsung cell

Purchased a Samsung a930 and the drivers necessary to sync with my computer
(modem, port, USB - ver 4.34). I have XPSP2, and WMP 10. When I click on
"Sync Music" on the phone, it would say I needed to install software, so I
manually installed a MTP driver under the WPD category. Now when I click
"Sync," the WPD driver and the "Autoplay" screen load for about a second and
then disappear. On the phone, it says "Connect Failure." I have tried this
on another PC with same OS and software and there was no issue. What could
be preventing the connection from maintaining? In Device Manager, I do not
see any drivers with errors - there does not appear to be a driver conflict.
Been on support calls with Verizon and HP and they can't help.
