XPe NIC driver issue (Intel PRO/100 VE on MSC CXB-CD945 COM, FP2007)

Posted: 06-25-2007, 02:39 PM
Hi,

Trying to get a grip on XPe, I am dumbfounded as to how to make my NIC work.

Problem: The target system is an MSC CXB-CD945, utilizing an Intel
PRO/100VE 82562EZ-based onboard network adapter. (DeviceID: 27DC)

When importing the .cmq file generated by TAP into the FP2007 Component
Designer, it complains that no suitable driver was found, even though
the PRO/100 VE drivers are added to the Component Database by way of
Intel's XP Embedded-prepared drivers:

When imported into Component Designer, however, the resulting component
refers to PRO/100 VE devices with DevID 2449.

Thus (Or, for all I know, for some different reason altogether) no
driver is installed while the FBA goes about its business, even though
the required PRO/100 VE component is added to the image in Target Designer.

So - any suggestions? Have I simply looked in the wrong place for drivers?

Are the 2449 and 27DC devices similar enough that modifying the
accompanying .inf file will do the trick? If so - what would be an
appropriate course of action to figure out what needs to be modified?

Does anyone out there actually _have_ XPe drivers for the 27DC PRO/100 VE?

Thanks,

Odd Erling, hardware geek - puzzled by software stuff.

You could modify the component to support you device PnP ID, but there is no
gaurantee that the driver is going to work.

Did a Ethernet driver come with the board? If it did than you will want to
import, the INF for that driver and create an SLD.

-Been there, done that. Didn't work - at least not right off the bat.
Will do some more tinkering tomorrow.

-Nope. I've also been in touch with the local distributor, they were
-ahem- less than enthusiastic when I asked for help in locating a proper
driver for the hardware they'd sold me.

I fired off an email to MSC (The manufacturer) as well - with some luck,
they'll relay it to the right person in their organization. Not a single
driver was available for download off their website.

Anyway - thanks.
