Yet another anomaly with SP2

Posted: 07-17-2004, 01:57 PM
When I try to open Visual Studio 2003 - I select a project that was
previously build in VS 2002, Visual Studio issues an error and attempts to
access the Office Update site (I've never ever seen any Windows product
attempt to auto access the OFFICE update web site - wow, I'm impressed if
this is as expected). Since I don't have Outlook 2003 installed on my
machine (I am still running Office 2000), it seems a bit odd that it
unsuccessfully attempted to update Outlook 2003 (it freezes at 488 kb of
1989 - I let it run for about a half hour on a DSL connection) I don't
have Outlook 2003 on my machine, although, if Windows wants to update it,
<g> maybe they'd like to gift me a copy of it so they can update it? That
would be nice.

I then attempted to re-open the sln file I had tried to auto-convert with
VS2003 (from VS2002 - never had trouble with this before). In so doing, I
discovered the failed attempt to open Outlook 2003 had corrupted both the
VS2002 version AND the VS2003 version. I keep a backup on sourcesafe -
thank sourcesafe - phew!
