If you have still not leaped on to Linux and Mac then there’s a possibility that you are pissed off with the the Outlook Express whenever you want to send a message to mail client. Outlook made better sense in older days when you had to have some email client to send mails.
The users now like to send mails through gmail or some other email service. You can of course edit in registry so that Outlook doesn’t pop up every time you send mails but help is at hand if you are not geeky or brave enough to mess with registry.
If you are using Firefox 3 then you can do a small tweak which will allow you to make gmail as your defaiult email client. You can click Tools>Options>Applications to see what program is the default choice of your browser when you open the corresponding file. In that list search for “mailto”.
You will see that there’s only yahoo mail as other application in email links which is of no use so you will need to add gmail as an application in the email links. You can do it by typing the following script in your firefox address bar and then clicking enter.
javascript:window.navigator.registerProtocolHandler(”mailto”,”https://mail.google.com/mail/?extsrc=mailto&url=%s”,”GMail”)
A pop up will appear on the top of screen to convey you that gmail has been added as an application in the email links. You can now make gmail as your default email client.

There is an alternative too and that is using an application called gAttach. This application tacks all your mail extensions which then start opening up in gmail instead of Outlook.
