Google is in the process of launching GDrive storage-in-the-cloud service. This web service will be called GDrive and it would allow people to store almost all their data on the Internet and access it from wherever they are.

Gdrive is basically online storage where Google will store a copy of your computer files and folders on its servers. Gdrive is basically a cloud-based storage that should have two faces: A desktop client that keeps local and online files and folders in two-directional sync via a web interface for accessing your desktop files anywhere and anytime, using any network-enabled computer.
Google has been contemplating to launch GDrive for some time now but they seem a little fast forward this time around because Microsoft has also put its Live Mesh in place which is the the only competitor that Google needs to worry about. Live Mesh has integrated its bits and pieces in one thread with Live Mesh which gives you an option to store upto 5 GB of your data on Microsoft’s servers.
Google with its GDrive web service will try to make the need of an Operating System irrelevant as most of their applications are online. The urge to capture the user’s data as soon as possible is pitting Google against Microsoft once again.
