Google goes Wiki with Jotspot acquisition

jotspot.jpgGoogle acquired wiki service called Jotspot. It is a wiki that allows multiple users to add, remove and edit content and provides, allowing for programmers or writers to collaborate online.

The technology is best known through the Wikipedia online encyclopaedia.Jotspot premium services to companies, but following the acquisition has dropped its subscription fees.

Even though Google focuses mostly on consumers and individual users, co-founder Joe Kraus in a blog posting claimed that the acquisition was a natural fit.

Joining Google allows us to plug into the resources that only a company of Google’s scale can offer, like a huge audience, access to world-class data centers and a team of incredibly smart people.
