Google Launches New Homepage For Blog Search

Published in Google by sushaantu

Google has quietly changed its Google BlogSearch which now looks more like memetracker rather than a Blog counterpart of Google News. The layout is pretty much the same but the major change has been the way it now focuses on the buzzing topics on blogosphere.

It looks pretty similar to Techmeme now while a look reveals clearly that there is not much difference in the results either. It’s much easier to track the stories which are making news through memetrackers like Techmeme, Memeorandum or even Slashdot and Digg. All of these memetrackers do pretty much the same thing which makes certain stories on web to go viral and others to just stay like that.

Google Blogsearch is definitely not as utilized by users as it should be and some of the general audience prefer Technorati to keep abreast with stories on blogosphere. Although Technorati was a great website but it is static for some time now and it doesn’t contribute a lot in terms of traffic on your blog either.

Techmeme is doing pretty good and the audience on this memtracker is far more web-savvy than Technorati. The upgrade in Google Blogsearch could be inspired by the impact that memtrackers are leaving behind. Memetrackers are not generally used by the normal web user but it holds great potential for a blogger as they could just make something out of the topics which are in vogue at the moment and who knows it might just go viral.
