I have seen plenty of companies, doing this..manipulating images and doing weird photoshoping of the images to be used on their websites..however it is not expected from Microsoft.. below is the example of how clumsy could their web team be when they launched these two websites, one is the regular english version of their website, while other one is polish version! notice the middle person in the image.
