Long Ago when internet was created, advertisers realized with its growing popularity that they need to participate in it that is how they found ways to advertise online. That’s why banner ads were created. The outset of new internet phenomenon and active application driven web2.0 websites, advertisers are rethinking on finding new ways to get noticed in this environment.![]()
A company called San Mateo has created a new advertising concept called participatory video ads. Each day at YouTube’s home page, one video ad will be featured. It will rise and fall based on its own entertainment merits, judged by users. People at the site can rate the ad, share it with others, write comments about the ad, embed the ad inside their own videos or make the ad a favorite.
In keeping with the YouTube community’s ethos that everyone with a video camera can find an audience, some users will surely react to the ad in comments or also give response as a video clip. I believe with the need to generate revenue of this very famous website, YouTube’s Chad Hurley is ready for the challenge.
YouTube has over 20 million viewers a month, its about time they don’t depend only on capitalization, they can create a better support system with strategic planning for subscriptions, pay-per-view videos or pay-to-upload videos and more.
YouTube is one way we define how things are getting done differently on internet. The participatory video ad, which visitors must click on to view, is one way the company is demonstrating how it plans to do the Internet advertising also differently.
Good thing is they don’t dare to be different and it stands out!
