Nokia 6210 re-emerges in news

Nokia brought its first 3G mobile device to South Korea, the Nokia 6210s. It is already launched as the the 6210 Navigator in Europe last summmer of 2008 but ironically Nokia has removed the phone’s navigator capabilities since the Asian countries have regulations that require GPS Capable devices to use only local map servers.

Based on S60 software, this Nokia Smartphone allows you to take picture in panoramic modes and you can also upload them to flickr. The specification 3.2 megapixel camera, MP3 Player video playback, Stereo FM Radio and IGB Memory card in box.

The time is now right for Nokia to enter Korea  market said Colin Giles, Senior Vice President, Greater China, Japan and Korea, Nokia.

With the launch of 3G WCDMA networks and the move by the local operators to more open international standards, Korea has become a more viable market for global players.

“We look forward to being able to give Korean consumers the chance to choose from a wider range of devices. Our goal is to start slowly with a couple of devices in the first year and build our presence and product portfolio overtime, learning from the market as we go,” Mr Giles said. “The Nokia 6210s is an ideal device to kick-start Nokia’s portfolio in Korea. It is a competitively priced smartphone with a slide form factor that is very popular in this market,” he said.

The Nokia 6210s is manufactured at the Korean Masan facility, which opened in 1984 and so far, has already produced almost 400 million devices. This phone is now available under KTF and it retails for about $300 or 396,000 Korean Won.
