Nokia N85 is a one of the most interesting Nokia launch in the year 2008. Nokia is betting nig on Nokia N85 to promote its gaming platform called Nokia N-GAGE. The phone is coming with some pre-installed N-GAGE gaming titles in some countries like India. Let’s take a look at what else this phone has in it for you.

Nokia N85 is a slider phone following the style of Nokia N81. It has round edges, black glossy plastic stuck tight with the framing. The handset size measyres at 103×50x16 mm, which is slimmer than N96.

The front of the phone features 2 panels with the top one housing the 2.6″ QVGA (320×240 pixels) OLED INFO display. A five-megapixel camera is snuggled neatly behind a sliding lens shutter which operates smoothly. We can also safely say that it is one of the best 5 megapixel camera on the block with LED-flash, 20 x digital zoom and Carl Zeiss optics.

Its keypad is a flat pane and the keys have excellent tactile feedback and I found them easy to use. The keys are all black to match the top of the phone with white labels and a very uniform white backlight that shines through.
The bottom edge of the Nokia N85 is devoid of any buttons or connectors. You’ll need to look at the top edge of the N85 to find the micro-USB port, the power button and the standard 3.5mm port which works for headphones as well as the included TV-Out cable. The left edge of this compact smartphone is slightly busier, with two speakers acting as end-caps, the volume rocker, a slide-lock mechanism and a dedicated camera button nestled between.

The Nokia N85 offers a powerful multimedia consumption and creation tool in a compact package. The phone’s bright and crisp 2.6″ OLED display not only looks great infact contributes to the pleasantly long battery life. Unfortunately the build quality is quite poor with a slider and loose front panel even after only a few weeks of usage. The user interface looks great and is stable with no lockups or slowdown despite our heavy texting.
Overall we can say that Nokia N85 is a great device but a little more work on the build quality of slider would have been even better.
