Nokia’s high-end N97 3G smartphone combines a touchscreen with a tilted 3.5-inch display, a full QWERTY keyboard, and is in direct comparison with Apple’s iPhone. However, I find very little excitement in this, because The new phone from Nokia, runs on S60 5th Edition, the newest version of Nokia’s Symbian-based smartphone OS. Nokia N96 worked on S60 3rd Edition, which is not even close to getting compared to the iPhone OS
I am pretty sure that from every aspect of previous mobile phones coming from Nokia, this is by far the best handset rolled out by them on each and every standpoint. However, I doubt that this places it anywhere near the iPhone 3G. People who were a bit uneasy with the iPhone keyboard will like the additional and well placed keyboard on Nokia N97 for sure.

Nokia N97 is also in hype for its social networking features, something being termed “So-Lo” that involves using GPS to determine your “social location,”.

Even if the phone can come close to delivering a true touch screen experience, just as in iPhone, I don’t see the nokia to be competing on the downloads aspect, like iphone applications… where there are tons and tons of stuff….
