I just finished a Post on comparing the Nokia N97 with Apple iPhone, however.. many people out there still do not know the difference in the Nokia N97 and the currently selling Nokia N96 handsets, this post is to give you a sneak comparison on what lies in the Nokia N96 successor and how is it better.
The N97 will be available for sale in June’09 in the U.S., in an unlocked version for $650. I am unsure if any or the prominent carriers AT&T , T-Mobile will endorse it and sell it at a lower subsidized price, if that doesn’t happen it’ll not sell much.

The N97 has a larger screen than the T-Mobile’s Android-based G1 and a large physical keyboard, these are its physical aspect USPs. It is a neat combination of the touchscreen and a full slide-away QWERTY keyboard (unlike the iPhone’s virtual keyboard)
Nokia N96 has already proved it as a high-end device and reached the pockets of most of the modern mobile users across the world. Like an unexpected storm it has entered the mobile market with all the powerful multi-purpose features.
Its 2.8 inches colourful TFT display as the first attractive feature of this phone. The user-friendly slider mechanism and great quality multimedia features like 5.0 mega pixels digital camera, MP3/AAC/AAC+/eAAC+/WMA player, Stereo FM Radio with RDS, DVB-H TV broadcast receiver, 3.5 mm audio output jack, T9, TV out, secondary VGA videocall camera and video recorder was promising ultimate fun and entertainment to its users.
Some of the other cool features of the N96 from Nokia were the the Built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS function, SMS, MMS, Email, Instant Messaging, RSS reader, WAP 2.0/xHTML Internet browser, Office document viewer, push to talk, Voice dial/memo and Built-in handsfree.
Nokia N97 handset from Nokia is compatible with WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML Internet browser and RSS feeds. One of the major features of this upcoming phone is its storage capacity. The microSD (TransFlash) memory card of this phone will have the capacity to support nearly 16 GB memory card slots.
Its ultra entertainment features like audio player, video player, video recorder, secondary video call camera, 5.0 mega pixels digital camera, RDS technology stereo FM radio will definitely prove it as great entertainer handset.
With its 3G technology Nokia N97 phone has a Built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS support and is installed with thousands of Nokia Maps 2.0 Touch along with a digital compass feature. It supports the operating system of Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 rel. 5 and comes preloaded with all the endless features like class 32 GPRS, class 32 EDGE, HSCSD, 3G-HSDPA, WLAN-Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, UPnP technology, Bluetooth connectivity and microUSB support.
N97 users can also create a customized home screen with the widgets of their preferred Web services and social-networking sites.

i think that the N97 will be a sublime phone and possibly be better than the iPhone.

Nah, The N96 is way better.
If you see when the N97 slides to keyboard the back latches look HORRIBLE.
And i dont like the way the Screen of the N97 goes.
N96 is more quality in it, and WAYY more Stylish.
And im not to sure but I think N97 only has a 3.15 mp camera
whilst N96 has a 5mp camera with flash
So
N97: 3 and a Half / 5
N96: 5/5
*Please not i DONT own any of them so im not siding!

Cut and paste Function
N97: Yes!
N96: No
I presume you mean copy and paste text. Or maybe a dedicated copy/paste key?
I don’t own a N96, but do have and N79 - don’t see why they should be any different. To copy text, find text you want to copy (must be an editable field). Hold down # key for 2 seconds, phone beeps. Keep # key depressed, while selecting text using navwheel and then press key adjacent to screen to “copy” (copy command doesn’t appear on screen if you haven’t selected anything). Navigate to where you want to place your text, press # key again for 2 seconds and now you have the option to paste.

I own a n95 8gb, love it but want to upgrade to an n96. I personally hate touch screens, maybe if you are a woman. They tend to break easily!
Copy and paste text…? Any n series nokia can do that crap. I just copied this entire thread.
I find it hard to believe how they can bring out the n97 with a dam 5mp camera! What the hell? Common… The n95 has a 5mp camera! What a waist, there are crappy samsungs out there that have 8mp cameras!!!
N97 only seems to excel with memory and a few other useless features.
I have been tempted to go for the n97 but will rather wait until the release a better one. I recomend the n96!

ive had the n95 8gn and loved it but im not to shure on the n96.
the n97 is a gr8 phone for those who like QWERTY keyboard and touch screen and a good camera.
ive had a go on the n97 and it was full of apps like the ovi store the nokia’s take on apples app store but the ovi store needs to think about its prices abit but overall a gr8 phone gr8 strong slider and a masive 32gb of internal memery and a micro sd slot fot axspansion its amazing i think nokia has brought out its best phone so far.
thanks =]
