Number of WiFi Hotspots Up 47% on 2005

Densely-populated Europe leads the world in its WiFi coverage, but the U.S. isn’t far behind, narrowing the gap and contributing to a 47 percent increase in the total number of hotspots on planet Earth.

The Asssociated Foreign Press reports on an ABI Research forecast concluding the year will end with some 143,700 locales where bloggers can pretend to be working while sipping lattes and making snarky comments about the decor. Most of the growth is in the west, though the report claimed Eastasia is catching up fast.
