Outwit Hub’s first Step Towards Semantic Browser

Published in Firefox by sushaantu

It doesn’t happen very often that it takes me more than few minutes to review an add-on. Outwit hub is one add-on which really made me to slow down my pace because there were no clear instructions or help about the particular add-on. I had access to some of the video tutorials regarding this particular extension but they were not as clear as I would have liked. So, I had to use it for some time before getting convinced that this add-on is useful and worth a try.

I have now come to the conclusion that this add-on is great and that it needs to be in the firefox of anyone who does a lot of data collection. The add-on actually lets you collect the desired data from the web if it is on the web. For instance, I want images of a particular mobile phone then I can do a google image search and then click on the Outwit Hub button. A new window will show up which will have the links of all the images along with the general information about the image. I will know which image have better quality or resolution without even having to go to the image URL. Outwit allows me to download the selected images with one click without once having to visit that page which contains the image.

Further you can also compile an excel sheet if the data you want to collect is presented as list on web. I found this particularly handy to make excel sheets of lists on Wikipedia. I will recommend anyone who has to do lot of data collection or research work to give this add-on a try.
