Packard Bell & Skype announce the world’s first “Skype Edition” notebook

Skype has now earned a repute to become built in functionality in notebooks..well it sure has become an important utility. Packard Bell has designed a notebook with built-in Skype functionality. This EasyNote Skype Edition is featuring a webcam and a one-touch Skype calling button, and will have pre-loaded Skype’s VoIP software.

EasyNote will have a dedicated Skype button situated in the bevel of the 14in widescreen display next to the webcam. One can answer calls simply by pressing the button, or use it to launch the Skype application to make a call.

Packard Bell was the first company to pre-load Skype software on its PCs over two years ago. No Wonder they are taking things to next level for thier buyers.

Skype reached an agreement with Dell at the beginning of June to bundle its internet telephony software with selected notebooks. Skype has definately become thie one prequiste as it provides free worldwide calls between its users, and calls to fixed line phones starting from 1.2p per minute.

Skype has made calling cheaper in the US. Also as US users can now make a one-hour call to 30 countries in the world for free. Long Distance was never that affordable…well but now it is

EasyNote Skype Edition will be available in Europe from August with a price of €899 (£618).
