Push Email for Alltel’s RAZR and other BREW phones

Published in Internet, Mobile, Mobile Applications by Aditi Tuteja

Push email vendor, SEVEN and Alltel Wireless have announced that Alltel’s enterprise customers can, as of today, get push based email on their Brew compatible mobile phones on the Alltel network.

Most CDMA phones in the US support BREW instead of Java, and as such this means that phones such as Motorola’s RAZR will now be push email capable on Alltel’s network.

The new product that SEVEN is using for this system, Office Sync for BREW, will also provide BREW handsets with real time synchronization of contacts and calendar entries.

Alltel is offering Office Sync for BREW with an unlimited data plan for only US$14.99/month - a pretty agressive price point when compared with the BlackBerry access fees charged by most US carriers.

A personal version of SEVEN’s Office Sync for BREW is also available for those customers that do not have an enterprise server to attach to but do have POP or IMAP accounts. A consumer version is also available for people that make use of internet mail services such as Hotmail, AOL, Yahoo! Mail, and others.

Personally, I don’t even have a landline phone! I mean I have the number, but it doesn’t work. I’m so cellphone girl:)
