A new cell phone from Samsung, expected to be launched in second quarter of 2008, is coming with a DVB-H digital TV receiver. Samsung P960 is a sleek slider cell phone.
Seems like SGH-P960 DVB-H device is launched this week in accordance with the Nokia N96 release. Its amazing to imagine how it will be to have a DVB-H handheld.
Unfortunately when you look at DVB Project’s service listing only European countries with significant DVB service is available in Albania, Finland and Italy. Other countries only have ongoing trials.
Apart from SGH-P960’s DVB-H capabilities, there is nothing exceptional about this 3G device. It has a 2.6″ 240 x 320 pixel display, FM radio, 3 megapixel camera, document viewer, web browser, Bluetooth and support for HSDPA high-speed data. Basically the Samsung P960 is a simple phone for regular usage.
Samsung P960 can not be compared to Nokia N96 and either ways if you still do not have DVB-H broadcasts in your area then there is very little point in purchasing this one.
Samsung say that the SGH-P960 should be available in certain markets from April onwards. Price is unknown still.
