According to multiple sources, Sony Ericsson will be releasing its new flagship Walkman phone next year. It may sound like a response to Nokia’s announcement of the N97, though judging by it’s known specifications the upcoming Walkman doesn’t stand a chance against the Nokia’s new baby.

The new Sony Ericsson flagship mobile handset will be a Walkman slider with a compact metal casing, and will feature a WLAN 2.6 inch display, 8.1 inches megapixel camera with auto-flash, face detection, photo flash and video QVGA at 30 frames per second.
The new mobile which currently is unnamed at this time will reportedly be based on a slider design within a compact metal chassis and will be released under the Walkman moniker. In addition, the new design also reportedly includes Walkman v4.0 plus a 3.5mm headphone jack. Which will be a relief for all those Sony Ericsson fans who have to currently cope with fiddly headphone adaptors.
