Rumors are thick in the blogosphere that Apple will launch the fourth generation iPod Nanos on the 9th of September. We don’t usually talk about rumors on this blog but the events that have happened in last week and the fact that there is a tradition of Apple launching new iPod models in September has added some weight to the particular rumor.
Apple released iTunes 7.7.1, no major change to it but a small update to fix the media playback purchase and iPhone sync tool. But as I did it it caused troubles, itunes could not locate music files. And after many trials, I was able to add files but while I tried to play some music, iTunes could not find a specified file and it just froze. Soon I realized that this is a typical side effect of this update, for many who upgraded to it.
I found a fix to stop the Freeze when connecting an iPod/iPhone If this problem manifests, try deleting the following files from ~~/Library/Preferences/ (your user library preferences folder):
Austrian luxury designer and jeweler Peter Aloisson has release a Aloisson designed iPhone which is the world’s most expensive iPhone. The phone derives its name from the Princess cut used on 138 of the 318 diamonds on its surface.

I knew from long time that I can use my iPod as Voice Recorder, but I seriously didn’t try it out. In last 2 days I felt the need to do so, mainly because I wanted to record some important telephone conversations in good quality.
I have the 80 GB video Apple iPod (this technique doesn’t work on Nano, and Shuffle ipods), my ipod has this inbuilt. The software that makes ipod capable on doing this is called Voice Memos application.
The additional accessory that is required is a microphone. Actually you can use any standard audio microphone which has a 3.5-millimeter plug that goes with your IPod, The one that you can use is Belkin’s Universal Microphone Adapter priced at about USD30.
Another one available is Griffin Technology’s iTalk which is approx USD40. This is highly recommended gadget as this features a mic, a small speaker and headset.
On an average battery usually performs lower than the officially quoted value, for example MacBook must give 4.5 hours of time. This is dependent on many factors, mainly on how you are using your notebook. There are few things which can help you save your Macbook’s battery life.
Make Best use of the Battery life settings.
You can go to your battery settings, click on Energy Saver Preference. Choose Battery and set the optimization for Better Battery Life. This would automatically put the display to sleep when it is inactive for more than a minute and this may reduce your processor performance. Your MacBook will not run quite as fast, but get to save more battery power by doing this.
Power down your hard disks
By Powering down your hard disks, while you don’t need them also helps in saving energy To do this you would need to go to Energy Saver Preferences and enable the Put “Hard Disks to Sleep When Able”, option. (more…)
The iPod touch has a touch screen interface just like iPhone. It has a physical home button separate from the touch screen. The home screen shows a list of touch buttons for all applications like Music, Videos, Photos, iTunes at bottom.
Touch buttons to open Safari, YouTube, Calendar, Contacts, Clock, Calculator, and Settings are at the top. The iPod touch is sports Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, and, like the iPhone, includes a mobile version of Safari browser and a viewing client for YouTube.
The device’s Wi-Fi capabilities can also be used to purchase music from the iTunes store. Check the following home video that reviews most functions of the new ipod touch.
I was wondering since last 2 days over what should I use to clean my glossy Macbook screen? I had a finger print on it and I had to get it off.
As I researched I found out some products like Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I have seen them available in supermarkets and grocery stores in the cleaning supplies area.
Then I read about iKlear, an anti-static alcohol and ammonia based cleaning substance, which is claims to cleans and protects the Screens and Cases of iPod, iPhone, MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac and all Glossy Screen Displays.
A post about macbooks discoloration from engadget scared me, after having read a lot of experiences I finally decided to trust the most genuine suggestion to clean LCD panel on Macbook, from the Apple website.
Back in 1971, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak (founders of Apple Computer Inc.) went into business to build ‘Blue Boxes’. A device that allowed free illegitimate phone calls by faking the signals used by AT&T (Apple’s exclusive network carrier). In the picture, you can see Steve Jobs with a ‘Blue Box’.
From Wikipedia:
An early freaking tool, the blue box is an electronic device that simulates a telephone operator’s dialing console. It functions by replicating the tones used to switch long-distance calls and using them to route the user’s own call, bypassing the normal switching mechanism. The most typical use of a blue box was to place free telephone calls - inversely, the Black Box enabled one to receive calls which were free to the caller. The blue box no longer works in most western nations, as modern switching systems are now digital and no longer use the in-band signaling which the blue box emulates. Instead, signaling occurs on an out-of-band channel which cannot be accessed from the line the caller is using (called Common Channel Interoffice Signaling (CCIS)).
Apple has recently announced upgrades on iPods. All Ipod types including iPod Shuffle, Nano, will get cosmetic improvements and performance upgrades, this is being seen as preparation to do well in sales in the coming holiday season.
Out of the ipod family, iPod Nano is top seller, it is going get some cool renderings. The newer iPod Nano will have a 2-inch screen and this makes is capable of playing video. With the default 320×240 resolution as the previous video iPod models.
The hard-drive based player is now being termed as iPod Classic and all its new versions will have the hip metal casings and will be available in 80 and 160GB capacities.
Apple has also launched iPod Touch, which is basically a 8 or 16GB iPhone without a cellular phone. It is very similar to the iPhone, it also offers a Wi-Fi connection and mobile browser. I don’t know why would anyone buy ipod touch and not iphone, ipod touch has everything just no calling options.
The never versions of ipod Nano and Classic iPod will have a new navigation interface which displays photo, movie, or cover art images alongside the menu.
