Dell has finally unveiled its China slated Abdroid powered smartphone called “Mini 3i.” The news in the blogosphere was that the launch of Dell’s first smartphone was imminent and today all the rumors have been put to rest by Dell.
Some of the features as we now know are a 3.5 inch touchscreen displau with 360×640 resolution. The resolution is surprisingly better than that of Apple iPhone as well as Palm Pre. It has a 3.2 MP camera. A mini USB port, Bluetooth and a microSD card slot has also been provided. The dampener however is that the phone doesn’t have WiFi. It is possible that it is only the case with the devices being sold in China while the models which will be available in other countries will have WiFi. It has to be noted that Apple iPhone being sold in China also lack WiFi.

The ninjas at BGR have finally discovered the Dell’s smartphone that we have been hearing about since last few days. It has finally been pictured and it seems like a good enough addition to the Android powered devices such as HTC Hero. The front of the phone is not as delicious but then these are just grainy pictures so we better not be too judgmental.

Now coming to the features, the Dell Ophone mini3i or whatever it is called at launch will have an on-screen QWERT keyboard with handwriting recognition and multi-touch UI. These efficacy of these things can only be realized once you use it with your own fingers.

Okay, it will have a 3 MP camera with auto-focus and flash. It holds the capoability to shoot videos at 30fps. A-GPS is also such a welcome addition. Other good stuff includes Microsoft Exchange support along with support for Google, AIM, Yahoo and MSN IM. The device is spec’d to have a weight of 103 grams which is okay for a smartphone.

All in all good to have some more Android goodness. Now we are waiting for the day when it is officially launched.

Hardly a day goes by when Android is not making some news these days. This is a good thing in my opinion. Android is more open when it comes to mobile phone Operating Systems than most of others including the iPhone. If only Apple had been little more transparent about its app verification and approval process I might not have said that. The news about Android this time around is that Dell is going to launch an Android powered smartphone in few days.

The device will be launched in China by the China Mobile in next few days. It will be called Ophone mini3i and we are excited to know what is under its hood. The details which have so far been revealed are an iPhone like touchscreen and that’s it. Few more days and then we will have a clear picture.

It seems that Android is finding more takers than anyone had initially anticipated when Google launched it. Lenovo will be launching it’s very own Android powered handset in the China. The device is named “OPhone” and somehow we can’t help but recall that they are now onto copying names too now that they have faked pretty much every popular mobile device.

I was talking about local Chinese mobile makers not Lenovo just in case you have only now recovered from your deep slumber. The device will be hitting shelves in mainland China some time in next month. It will be sold by the China Mobile which is one the other note also the largest mobile carrier in the world by the number of subscribers. China would love some “real” home grown stuff for a change.

INQ has released some affordable socila media savvy phones after their first attempt at this niche with INQ1. The two mobile phones are called INQ Mini 3G and the INQ Chat 3G. The first one is a slim candybar design handset with a rMP camera and up to 8GB of memory. The latter one i.e. INQ Chat 3G is INQ’s first QWERTY phone with a 3.2 MP camera and GPS.

INQ has tried to incorporate features keeping in mind our web usage. Both the handsets come with interchangeable covers keeping in alive the spirit of customization that we have grown so used to on the web. You can tweet, post your status of facebook and myspace with the inbuilt applications on both the devices. INQ Mini 3G can boast of bringing in the best of web on our mobile devices at cheap.

INQ Chat 3G is a QWERTY phone which many of you’d prefer to satisfy you chatting urge on the go. It has a 2.4 inch QVGA screen which is pretty much the standard for wide smartphones these days. The 3.2 MP camera without a flash leaves us to expect more. The claim to fame of both the handsets without any doubt is the facebook and the twitter integration. INQ created a twitter application specially for the both phones as they had promised some time back. INQ Chat 3G will retail at £110 which certainly sounds tempting with all its sexy luscious red looks.

INQ is keeping its tradition of bringing in web to the mobile devices by launching these handsets. They have earlier launched Skypephones as well as an award winning Facebook phone called INQ1.

The India mobile phone manufacturer Spice has unveiled yet another dual mode mobile phone. It is called Spice D-1111 and it is powered by Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.0. Spice has been trying hard to compete against international mobile phone manufacturers in India and they haven’t been able to make any serious mark as of yet. It’s nice to hear that they haven’t stopped trying.

Spice D-1111 might be a Windows Mobile device buts its specifications does leave you disappointed. It has a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth and an expandable memory support upto 2 GB. You can certainly find all these specs in the middle range handset launched this year or so. Spice D-1111 only manages to garner your attention when it comes to pre-installed applications. There are loads of Windows Mobile compatible mobile applications which some of the techie folks might find interesting.

Some of the apps which have been included in the phone are Nimbuzz, Mitr, Opera and Reuters. The phone also comes with a email2SMS applications which lets you receive your emails in the form of sms. One only wonders why wouldn’t someone be using an email client especially if it’s a Windows Mobile device. The phone does look decent but it misses out on many levels, the most notable being specs. The price of Rs.18,499 is just not reasonable.

It seems that Spice D-1111 has been made by keeping a dumb mobile phone user in mind but as it turns out that the company itself has become one. The phone lacks any reason for your attention.

One of the most exciting mobile phone platform Google’s Android will make an entry into the Indian markets with the launch of HTC Magic by Indian telecom operator Bharti Airtel. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 29,900. The price is certainly on the higher range which is bound to shoo away the prospective customers.

One thing to celebrate however is that the HTC Magic will not be locked with the operator which means owners will have the freedom to choose their network operator and still use the phone. Apple iPhone which is available in India through Vodafone India and Bharti Airtel sells the locked down versions.

Android’s HTC Magic is an ugly phone and its only claim to fame being the first Google’s Android powered phone. The frenzy with Android phones have not reached the proportions that Apple has achieved with iPhone.

The HTC Magic does boast of some nice features such as Microsoft Exchange server synchronisation for email, calendar and contacts, Smart Dialer with on screen touch keyboard and a 3.2 mega-pixel camera. A data download of 100 MB per month for a period of six months will be provided to all the Airtel customers who buy HTC Magic. I don’t know about others but it is certainly not tempting enough to me.

Few Days ago Opera has released the beta version of its latest browser, promising faster speeds, new tabs and auto update features.

The Opera 10 beta is available as a free download for Windows and Mac and operating systems.

The most intriguing new feature is Opera Turbo, a compression technology which Opera claims will “unclog” connections to help boost speeds - promising three to four times faster downloads for slower connections, such as those capped by ISPs or on busy Wi-Fi. Indeed, Opera goes so far as to claim “broadband-like speeds on dial-up.” Even without Turbo mode, Opera claims the latest version is 40 per cent faster than version 9.6.

Tabbed browsing has also been tweaked. The tab bar is now not only resizeable, but a double click will preview a full image of all open tabs.

The upgrade is not just a technology revamp, but a visual facelift too. Opera had designer Jon Hicks clean up the browser interface.

Jon von Tetzchner, chief executive at Opera Software, said in a statement: “We have more surprises on the way, but when you try the features, enjoy the accelerated performance and get a glimpse at our shiny new wrapping, I think Opera 10 beta will excite both long-time users and those new to Opera.”
